Strong progress recorded by Gaselys in the annual Energy Risk Rankings for 2009

Gaselys has stormed up the 2009 Commodity rankings published by London-based Energy Risk magazine, with the company now listed in 15 categories compared with 8 in 2008.

There were two notable firsts:

- Gaselys is present for the first time in the “Fuel oil/UK-Europe” category, a market in which it has been constantly consolidating its positions with regards to its financial hedging activity.

- Gaselys has also made it into the “Research in power & gas” category.

Gaselys is listed in every poll category relating to the European traded natural gas and electricity markets, which represent its core business.

It has further established its leadership position in gas hubs, being voted #1 in France (PEG) and the UK (NBP prompt), and #3 in the EGT hub in Germany. Gaselys has made a breakthrough in electricity, with six listings, compared with two in 2008.

Lastly, Gaselys has broken into the top 10 global gas traders listed in the “Natural Gas, Overall” category (covering all the markets in Europe, the Americas and Asia).

The rankings published by Energy Risk reflect voting by 1,465 industry names, comprising traders, brokers, utilities, banks, corporates, etc. - around the world (North America: 36%, Europe: 42%, Asia: 18%, other: 4%).

Gaselys’ strong performance is striking in terms of the progress achieved compared with 2008 and provides an indication of the company’s market profile and the recognition of its prominence in Europe’s energy trading activity.
