What are the main responsibilities of a Back Office Manager?
The Back Office has three main functions. The first is to monitor trades made for our own account or our clients. The second is to monitor and manage the invoicing of these transactions, and the third is to monitor and control Gaselys' trading expenses.
Within Gaselys, the Back Office Manager has to lead a ten-person team and coordinate their work. This job requires a good overall view of the company's business in order to anticipate trading requirements. It is important to thoroughly understand how these trades are executed, since one false step can be very costly. In this job you must be very thorough and exacting, yet also pragmatic.

What sort of degree is generally required for the job?
Generally an MBA or a post-graduate degree in finance. That said, you can find a lot of people here at Gaselys with atypical profiles. The only thing we all have in common is our interest in finance.  

What is most interesting about this job?
It allows you to have an overall perspective of what the company does, since we deal with all internal functions as well as with clients and counterparties. It develops critical thinking and a good knowledge of the complete "chain" of the company's activities.

And what is most enjoyable ?
This job can be quite gratifying, for example when you fine-tune a transaction, automate a procedure or implement a new specification that will save traders a huge amount of time.
