Oil Trader
"Complex and demanding"
What were you doing before you became a trader?
I worked in the middle-office, where I was in charge of preparing the company's operating profit.
How did you come to this position at Gaselys?
After graduating from ISEG, where I majored in finance, I wanted to work for a company that traded commodities. Gaselys was offering an apprenticeship and this led to a position in the middle-office.
Was it hard to get used to your new job?
No, it was a natural process. When a position opened up to work in the front-office as a junior trader I seized the opportunity.
Could you describe your job?
My job is to help our customers hedge their energy procurement risks and provide them with financial solutions for avoiding the risks associated with volatile energy prices. We work in close collaboration with Gaselys sales staff and external counterparties.
What do you like most about your job?
Right now I am still learning.
Every day, working with my colleagues in the front office, I discover something new about this complex and demanding job. My previous position in the middle-office gave me a good overall perspective of what the company does. Now I am discovering the core of its special expertise.
